Dragon's Den

During the spring of 2013, Royal Relief was accepted to appear before the Dragons on the Dragon's Den TV show. After just finishing an intense six month course for entrepreneurship, a newspaper advertisement indicated the producers for the CBC TV show were in town auditioning prospective business owners to appear before the Dragons. So much for time to relax!

Although extremely nervous, I relaxed once I begain my pitch, and was excited when a few of the producers found relief for their various ailments in a trial. I was advised I'd hear from them within a month.A week later, I received the phone call asking if I could apper before the Dragons in two weeks. Yikes!

Burying myself in statistics and preparation for any possible question the Dragons may have for me, the two weeks flew by. In no time, I was on the flight to Toronto, costume safely packed inside my suitcase, and a horse waiting to carry me into the Dragon's Den, ready to slay the Dragons.

The horse loaned for the production, 'Tess', (Registered name Charlesy), a 10 year old paint mare, was amazing, riding up 10 stories in a freight elevator without panicking. Although obviously frightened upon exit, she simply planted her feet briefly. She was an absolute super-star during filming, carrying me with my cape draped over her hindquarters into the Dragon's Den, standing patiently and quietly with her owner, Dista Goguen, in the background. She showed absolutely no reluctance to return in the elevator, as if it was a common occurrance. She truly was brilliant and I owe many thanks to her and Dista (owner of Critter Comforts) for the many hours and miles of travel, the hours of waiting, their patience and good humour, participation and assistance in my venture. Thank you!
